| Curator's Comment: We simply couldn't sit back and watch Keyhani, who we see as one of the finest living painters continuing the impressionist tradition, win prize after prize at Salmagundi exhibitions. So we acquired his Brooklyn Bridge, with the idea of making his success known and underscoring that the great brushwork of the past has not succumbed to the current pastiche that passes for modernism. Keyhani was born in Iran in 1954 and is presently residing in Canada. It was during his years as a secondary school student that he was encouraged by one of his teachers to pursue his artistic talents. As a result, the artist became completely devoted to painting. After receiving a diploma in biology and anatomy, Keyhani studied art at Tehran and Dusseldorf Universities. Upon completion of these studies, he then spent seven years traveling in Germany and France, all the while developing his technique and style. We think Keyhani's impasto literally lives on the board, and he is a bravura colorist. Our image barely does justice to his talent, and his work must be appreciated in the real for its power to work on the individual observer. Everything in Brooklyn Bridge reflects with the brightest of multi-hued strokes. We are happy to ofer it for resale. Keyhani's works are featured in galleries in Munich, Dusseldorf, Paris, Cannes, Canada and the United States. His paintings are in numerous important collections in France, Germany, the United States, and Canada, where his work is on display in the permanent collection of the Canadian Parliament Building. Mostafa Kehani is a member of the Salmagundi Club, and the Oil Painters of America. We wish him a continued brilliant career. |
